#OccupyCollege

When I first heard about the OWS protest, I thought that it was a good thing. People were banding together to take down the corporate elites who screwed everyone over while taking their multi-million dollar bonuses and golden parachutes. But now that I’ve looked through this “wearethe99percent” blog, I’ve been able to peel away all the sob stories and name-calling to get to the real crux of the matter. We are giving credit cards and student loans to stupid people. It’s the new bubble. First, we loan them sub-prime mortgages, and they screw that up. Now we’re giving them student loans and credit cards, and they’re starting to screw that up, too. I always thought that sending more students to college would be a good thing (we build more skilled workers). But, the problem is that these people aren’t learning a thing. Colleges must be accepting just any person to their campuses to profit off them, even though they secretly know that those particular students will not get a job with their useless degrees. I think sometimes even the students know it. If the 99% had a movement, they should occupy universities with a high acceptance rate, and occupy the companies/programs that are giving out student loans to people getting nothing out of college besides a good time. Yes, “Wall St.” may have screwed the 99% before. But that already happened. Now another scam is happening beneath their noses, and they don’t even pay attention to it. Colleges are not sacred. They are profit-driven. Heck, they pay millions to their football coaches and pay nothing to the student athletes. That pretty much sums up how profit-driven these businesses are. #OccupyCollege!
